Snowy Egret flight -- Prime Hook NWR--Broadkill Marsh -- 2012-09-02 17:48

Between around 1830 and 1930 this evening, we witnessed an awesome flight of Snowy Egrets at Broadkill Marsh. Over the course of the evening, we counted 800 Snowy Egrets moving south along the coast, mostly in small groups (10-30), though one loose flock numbered around 80-odd.

Specie Comments: Impressive flight from approx 1830 to 1930, moving south in groups of 10, 20, 30 etc (largest group noted was 81), along coastline and over the marsh. Scrutinized as many as we could, including by scope, but surprisingly monospecific (saw one distant individual that may have been a juvenile Little Blue). Slowed to a trickle and finally dried up right as we hit 800!
